Paint Brush and palettes are important tools of artists who enjoy painting.



Fundamentals for creating art are made up of the Elements and Principles. Fifteen modules (two sections for color) for a total of 87 videos for the elements and principles.

22 hours of video lessons total for the ARTS BASICS – PHASE ONE

Watching lessons from all three categories can be extremely helpful, but at minimum the appropriate category for the grade you are teaching is necessary.

  • K-2 – 3 hours
  • 3-5 – 9.5 hours
  • 6-8 – 9.5 hours

The times listed above are for watching the videos. It is recommended that you practice the art lessons. This will more than double the hours necessary to complete each lesson. Success will depend upon your willingness to learn and practice the material.

Video lessons from the ARTS BASICS are written for students; therefore, lessons can be used in the classroom, giving your students an opportunity to practice the fundamentals of good art design.

Educator Intro/ Lessons

This section has four discipline focused lessons for each grade level category (K-2), (3-5), and (6-8) which are meant to be used as a template for creating your own lessons.

Art Integration Educator Lesson

Educators learn how to use an existing template from this course with a step-by-step lesson on how to create a lesson plan including a resource to cite the art standards used, create an art lesson, and then teach the art to their students in the classroom all while never deviating from the curriculum required in the main discipline.


Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS)

.A lesson designed to teach you exactly how to engage your students by asking the right questions to get the individual to tell you how the piece makes them feel and what about the work makes them feel this way. Teacher giving feedback that words the comments slightly differently and asks them to confirm this feedback. VTS lesson which has been provided in the course can be used in your classroom.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

SEL (Social Emotional Learning) has become an important piece as a recognized need in our students today. SEL lessons, some in the form of NeuroArt, will help students learn to cope with challenges they are faced with in their daily lives with visual Art projects and activities. These SEL art activities get to the core of the needs of students AND staff. They can be used in the classroom and in professional training.

Tips, Tricks, & Techniques

30 Art skill video lessons (with over 6 hours of material) delivered in bite-sized chucks to bring educators up to speed using tools and media in creating art.

A multitude of tips, tricks and techniques including use of paints.
